Spent the weekend in S.F. In order to avoid becoming totally morbidly obese -- these people know how to cook -- I ran five sets of the Lyon Street stairs. There are only 288 of them and I didn't do them wearing a weight vest unlike one dude who was cruising up and down them.
Good hockey fitness. Each trip up was like a really long shift, including that urge to heave once I hit the top.
There are actually similar stairs all over L.A.--the current issue of Backpacker has a good story. Seems like the kind of thing that should help the skating, or at least the kind of thing that's slightly more interesting than the LA Fitness gerbil wheel.
